Counseling in Rochester, NY
I have 30+ years of experience in counseling, addictions, psychiatric social work, co-dependency and trauma therapy. I have designed and implemented depression, anger management, chemical dependency programs and family counseling programs using action methods. For the last 16 years I have worked with veterans treating posttraumatic stress disorder, depression, anger management and drug and alcohol problems. I am a member of the American Society of Experiential Therapy (ASET). You can find my name and write-up on the ASET website.
I offer services for posttraumatic stress disorder, family / individual counseling, sexuality / gender disorders, DWI evaluations and referrals, and drug / alcohol family intervention services. In addition, I offer a special program for people who have been arrested for road rage, operation roadrage.
I currently accept patients covered under Excellus Blue Cross / Blue Shield and Preferred Care insurance providers, or patients with no coverage.
I continue to attend workshops, read and research new information in journals, books and articles specifically on treating Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and the relationship to addiction, eating disorders, depression, anxiety/panic disorders and sexual/gender disorders.
I use skills and knowledge developed from reading and attending workshops with Bessel A Vander Kolk, M.D, Zerka Moreno TEP wife of J.L. Moreno M. D., Virginia Satir MSW. I have read books by Sharon Wegscheider-Cruiz, MSW, Tian Dayton PhD, Salvador Minuchin, M.D., Harville Hendrix PhD and many other family therapists'. I use Imago Therapy techniques taken from Hendrix coupled with action methods and role reversal to open up communication and facilitate compassion and a deep understanding of the other's position.
I currently provide my services in the Rochester area including the surrounding towns of Brighton, Chili, East Rochester, Fairport, Gates, Greece, Henrietta, Irondequoit, Penfield, Pittsford, Victor and Webster.
