Posttraumatic Stress Disorder

I am adept at diagnosing and treating Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and the relationship to addictions, depression, sexual/gender disorders and many more Behavioral Health issues.

There are many people walking around in this world who have been exposed to trauma in some form. They are not always aware of why they are experiencing difficulty with day-to-day functioning.

Many people were exposed to childhood trauma, war trauma, fires, being attacked, violated, sexually abused or having their homes broke into and wonder why they are irritable, depressed, over reactive, have problems with addictions, relationships, isolation, numbness, disassociation and many more symptoms. If you experience any number of the above, please feel free to call and schedule an appointment for an interview.

The 1st goal of treating posttraumatic stress disorder is to learn to manage the symptoms of a traumatic event in order to function with day-to-day activities.

The 2nd and longer-term goal of providing posttraumatic stress disorder treatment is to integrate the traumatic event into the psyche. This is accomplished through a gentle action method approach. Keeping in mind not to re-traumatize the person. This is accomplished through many years of practice, training and a skilled therapist. I am such a therapist who has a very gentle approach to treatment. With this type of treatment, the person is actually free of the emotionality associated the traumatic event even though there is a remaining memory.

With trauma there is brain chemistry change. With a gentle approach and the use of action methods, theory has it that there is an actual reversal of brain chemistry. In other words the brain begins to produce the serotonin, which the trauma exposure has stopped.

I do encourage appointments with a psychiatrist or nurse practitioner for medication assessment especially if your not functioning well. Medication works in conjunction with action methods and is a positive goal to the healing process of trauma.
